About Sydney

Sydney Skyline

Sydney is one of the world's great cities, and is located on Australia's temperate south-east coast. It’s Australia’s most populated city, with 4.5 million residents from diverse multicultural backgrounds. Aside from its famous iconic landmarks like the Sydney Opera House, Habour Bridge and Darling Harbour, Sydney has many great places for shopping, outdoor recreation, entertainment, culture and nightlife, not to mention some of the most beautiful beaches and landscapes in the country!

Climate and weather

February is high summer in the Southern Hemisphere, with an average temperature of 25 C (75 F). Daytime temperatures can be hot and humid, and sunny days will often cool off with an afternoon thunderstorm at this time of year.

Beach and sun safety

If you're unfamiliar with Australia's climate, we recommend familiarising yourself with some basic safety tips for a beachside event, namely: Always swim between the flags in a lifeguarded area, and be liberal with sun cream and hats to avoid sunburn.
